“Macomb Heritage Days”
Tucked away in the far reaches of Midwestern Illinois sits this small, quaint little town that welcomes and charms all who visit with its fine culture, diversity and down-home country living of the past. Its friendly, small-town hospitality boasts many events, music, great food and camaraderie that seems to enrapture you. It may be an island away from the madding crowds, and miles from major cities, but maybe that is what gives it its peaceful eloquence. The little town of Macomb captures the hearts of visitors &draws all to remain with its finesse and friendly “Howdy-Do” – a respite & escape from the real world. Being the Home of Western Illinois University, many graduating students tend to remain – as this artist did- calling it “home” finding it hard to escape its safety. This artist was proud and fortunate to have been a part of the very first Heritage days in 1982 in honor of Macomb’s 150th Anniversary – proclaimed by then Mayor Anstine – by illustrating this drawing. Although decades have gone by, the spirit and friendliness of the town has grown even stronger.
Macomb welcomes all with a smile. We love our little town and are proud of it
located in the midst of the forgotten lands near “The Republic of Forgottonia”
instrumented by Neal Gamm – the Governor of Forgottonia in the 1970’s.
